The (mostly) true story of my search for a pint of cask-conditioned Brains Special Ale in Cardiff, Wales, armed only with a CAMRA Good Beer Guide and an umbrella, back in the day before navigation by phone was a thing. 1983, to be precise. As I remember, the beer was well worth the cold, damp search. And yes, a chair really did go flying across the pub!

What Makes a Fascist Weep

I can't think of a single historical example where a country's government has become fascist and then later on the general population of that country agrees that that had been a good idea. Quite the opposite: the population of a fascist country comes to regret this choice and pays a heavy price for the decision. So why would any country dabble in fascism at this point?
